Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

The short version

Use OpenPing to monitor your websites and APIs. Don't use it to attack other people's sites. Don't abuse the free tier. Be reasonable. We'll do our best to keep the service running and your data safe.

What you can do

  • Monitor your own websites, APIs, and services on any plan (including free)
  • Use OpenPing for commercial projects on all plans
  • Create public status pages for your users
  • Embed uptime badges on your sites and documentation
  • Share your status pages publicly

What you can't do

  • Monitor URLs you don't own or have permission to monitor
  • Use OpenPing as a load testing or DDoS tool
  • Create multiple free accounts to circumvent plan limits
  • Resell or white-label OpenPing without permission
  • Reverse engineer or scrape the service

Free plan

The free plan is free for everyone — personal and commercial use. We won't retroactively restrict it. We reserve the right to limit clearly abusive usage (thousands of monitors from a single IP, automated signups, etc.) but normal use is always welcome.

Service reliability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee 100% uptime (the irony isn't lost on us). We're a small team running on solid infrastructure, but things can break. We don't offer SLAs on free or Pro plans. Business plan customers can contact us about uptime commitments.

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms. If we shut down the service (we don't plan to), we'll give at least 30 days notice and provide data export options.
