Why we built
OpenPing

Freshping died. UptimeRobot restricted their free tier. We built what should exist.

The gap

Freshping — March 6, 2026

Shut down entirely. 20,000+ businesses lost their monitoring. No replacement offered.

UptimeRobot — Dec 2024

Free plan restricted to non-commercial use. Every business using it for free was suddenly in violation.

What we do differently

Most uptime monitors store every check result. Your site is up? They write "still up" to the database every 3 minutes. That's 480 identical rows per day per monitor. At scale, this creates massive storage costs — which is why free tiers keep disappearing.

We use transition-only storage. We only record when something changes. A monitor that stays healthy all day generates zero rows. This reduces storage by ~99%.

The result: free users cost us almost nothing to serve. So we can offer a genuine free tier without worrying about sustainability.

What we believe

Free means free

No "non-commercial only" fine print. Your business site on our free tier? Fine.

Honest marketing

Every feature on our pricing page maps to working code. We don't list what we haven't built.

Simple is better

You don't need an observability platform to know when your site is down.

Try it yourself

25 monitors. 3-minute checks. Free forever.
